A day of japanese happenings. There was a pretty scary earthquake in Kanagawa prefecture today - the building I was working in did some pretty violent swaying and shaking three times in a row. One of the female japanese staf members stated squealing in fright and it was very surreal as we all stood perfectly still and waited to see if it was going to be the Big One that did for us all. Not a good thought. It turned to have been a number five on the richter scale which is pretty high.
It is also local festival day so all the neighbourhoods around Tokyo held little local event with everyone dressed up in traditional yukatas, playing games, letting off fireworks and doing lots of traditional dancing. Our local park was all dolled up with lights and lanterns and it was really sweet.
